Fighting climate change and profitable business come together in a circular economy: a sustainable economy without waste. The Netherlands aims to become a circular economy by 2050.
From construction to fashion, all materials that enter the economy will be reused time and time again. This leads to a major reduction of CO2. To achieve this goal, Dutch companies, universities and government are inventing smart solutions, working together with partners worldwide.
The Dutch government has selected five economic sectors and value chains that will be the first to switch to a circular economy. These five priorities are important to the Dutch economy and have a big impact on the environment:
- biomass and food
- plastics
- manufacturing industry
- construction sector
- consumer goods
